Iseo, the Lake, the Territory
Iseo is a medieval town and its streets prove it, some are very narrow and form a small labyrinth that had the function of “breaking” the cold winter winds
It is an important tourist center with excellent clubs, seaside resorts, diving schools, sailing schools and equestrian centers within a short distance and is considered the “capital” of the lake.
The central square is only 100 meters from the lakefront with the embarkation for the boats, the railway station is nearby; so you can forget the car by traveling by train, boat and bicycle.
The magical Monte Isola, the largest inhabited lake island in Europe, is just 20 minutes by boat and the Torbiere del Sebino Nature Reserve, declared a “wetland of international importance”, can be reached by bicycle from Iseo (download the map of peat bogs).
From Iseo the towns of the Brescia coast can be easily reached by train (even with a bicycle) using the picturesque Brescia-Iseo-Edolo line.
Panoramic cycling routes departing from Iseo will allow you to fully enjoy the most beautiful and characteristic places of the lake area, the hinterland and Franciacorta (www.iseobike.com).
Cities rich in history and art are close at hand and well served by train:
Franciacorta is the renowned wine-growing area where you can visit wineries known worldwide for their famous “bubbles”.
